Participation at the 5th Session of Cen-Sad Executive Council
and the 3rd Ordinary Session of Cen-Sad Heads of State Conference
At the invitation of the Permanent
Secretary of the Community of Sahelo-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), the LCBC
Executive Secretary and the Director of Water Resources participated in
the 5th Ordinary Session of CEN-SAD Executive Council and the 3rd
CEN-SAD Heads of State Conference held from 10th to 13th February 2001,
in Khartoum (Sudan). The following points were discussed:
- Political issues relating to the implementation of the
Syrtre declaration and the act setting up the African Union;
- Economic and social issues which made it possible to
examine ways and means of reinforcing the integration process within
CEN-SAD.
Other points like creating an airline,
constructing a hospital, organizing an international conference on the
environment were also discussed during the two sessions.
